Nutrition After Gastric Sleeve
After the gastric sleeve, your diet will consist of only a liquid diet for a while. Then you will switch to pureed foods in accordance with the list given by your dietitian and finally solid foods. Therefore, your nutrition is very important after the treatment. Since your stomach will be too tired to digest food after gastric sleeve surgery, you should wait for the first 24 hours without eating or drinking anything. Then you will start drinking sips of water. Gastric sleeve will radically change your diet. For this reason, it should be avoided that you are committed to this before the treatment.
Exercise After Gastric Sleeve
You can start walking as soon as you recover from surgery. Start by going for 10 vigorous minutes of daily walking. Every few days, lengthen your walking by one minute. Work up to 150 minutes a week minimum (30 minutes a day, five days a week).
Gardening does not qualify as exercise because it doesn’t raise your heart rate. To add muscle mass while toning your physique, strength training is also advised, but please wait at least six weeks after surgery to begin this type of exercise. It’s crucial that you let your wounds heal first. Please keep in mind that if you do not exercise, you will not lose weight.
Things to Avoid After Gastric Sleeve
After Gastric Sleeve surgery, you should avoid eating carbonated drinks and hard-to-digest foods. In addition, you should definitely stop using straws. Using a straw will cause unnecessary air entry into your stomach. This, of course, will cause stomach upsets.
On the other hand, you need to stop overeating. You will be able to eat less because your stomach volume will decrease, but it is important to stop eating without filling your stomach.
